IndexNow Integration Blueprint for AI Crawlers
IndexNow lets site owners tell crawlers what changed. Plugging it into your assistant keeps responses fresh while respecting origin resources.
Workflow overview
- Capture page changes (CMS events, sitemap diffs, manual uploads).
- Batch URLs and send IndexNow notifications (via Microsoft/Bing endpoint).
- Queue URLs for priority recrawl; skip full sitemap sweep.
- Update embeddings and analytics references.
Implementation tips
- Batches: send when you have ~100 URLs or every few minutes, whichever comes first.
- Retries: exponential backoff on 429/5xx, log failures for ops review.
- Security: sign requests with keys stored per environment; rotate keys quarterly.
- Visibility: log
indexnow.notifyevents with tenant_id, host, url_count, response_code.
CrawlBot example
CrawlBot’s scheduler service ingests IndexNow payloads, fans out recrawl jobs via Pub/Sub, and tags embeddings with source=indexnow. Follow this blueprint to keep your assistant synced with live content.***
